Five arrests have already been confirmed as part of a larger plot to disrupt the White House UFC event with drones and sniper fire.
That’s the kind of investigative law enforcement that can happen when assets aren’t shifted over to prosecuting praying grandmothers, protesters busted for standing on grass at the Capitol, (not every J6 ‘defendant even entered the building!), or chasing down every bogus threat the SPLC beats a drum over. (Or, sometimes allegedly bankrolls the cross-burnings.)
It would be even easier if Democrats didn’t spend so much time and energy blocking funding from the DHS, including, yes, the Secret Service responsible for keeping people safe.
First, we have JD responding to the news of the attack itself:

The original FoxNews caption includes a quote of some of the conversation:
BREAKING: VP JD Vance says the foiled UFC 250 attack plot is another reminder of where America’s political climate is heading.
“This is what happens when people turn the rhetoric up so loud that disagreeing with somebody is a cause for violence.”
Vance argues that political leaders across the board need to lower the temperature, while contending that much of today’s political violence is coming from the left.
He also credits the FBI and federal law enforcement for stopping what could have been a major tragedy, saying Americans rarely see the attacks agents prevent every day:
“They don’t get the credit for the attacks they prevent. They only get the blame for the attacks that actually happen.
What do we know about the foiled attack itself?
Beginning with Director Patel’s social media description of the arrests:
On June 10, FBI and our law enforcement partners became aware of a potential threat to the UFC America 250 event in Washington, D.C. involving individuals outside of the National Capital Region – and thanks to the rapid action of this FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, multiple individuals are now in custody and allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold.
While the result represented the best of investigative work, it was also nothing out of the ordinary for this law enforcement team – we are built to detect, respond to, and bring to justice those who threaten the lives of American citizens – particularly during large gatherings like the historic UFC 250 fight. That’s exactly what we did here. I want to thank our great agents and partners, this work remains ongoing and we will continue to update the public as permitted.
NBC News cited the POTUS, made reference to Fox and Friends, and quoted officials like this one:
“In the days leading up to this weekend, our special agents, mission support personnel, and technical security teams worked around the clock to identify those responsible and hold them accountable,” Curran wrote. “Equally important to our protective mission is ensuring accountability through the justice system.”
The Secret Service’s “formal comments” on plot details would be made through court filings, he said. — NBC
As for the nature of the attack itself, the plan involved both the use of explosive drones as well as deployment of snipers.
Early reporting suggests the goal was not (necessarily) to kill one of the obvious high-profile targets at the event, so much as to target the ordinary supporters who showed up to watch the historic event in person.
With 80,000+ people in attendance, that’s a mind-boggling number of targets of opportunity, and who knows what might have followed in the aftermath of any resulting chaos?
