So, what’s the big deal about transgenderism? What’s the big deal about the LGBT movement? Why are Christians so worked up about these things? How do these topics inform voters? Who is behind all the attacks? What is the end game?
If you believe the Bible is the Word of God, we have much to discuss. But if you do not believe the Bible, then we have very little to discuss. For the Christian, the Bible is sacred, it is Truth, it is alive and active, sharper than any two edged sword.
Read all about it in Hebrews 4:12—
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
The Word describes both the Old and New Testaments. Jesus pointed to the Word, claiming it heralds his coming, his purpose, his work and all the details surrounding the end of the age.
Matthew 5: 17-19
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
It is a matter of life and death: life in this world and eternal life in the next. Jesus elaborates.
John 5: 39-40 “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.”
Anyone who subverts the Word, deceiving others, subverts himself, inviting wrath and judgment.
The resurrected Christ speaks of these things in Revelation 22:
18 “I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book. 20 He who testifies to these things says, Yes, I am coming soon. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”
There are eternal consequences. This is why true believers are so concerned that people receive the truth, and nothing but the truth, that they may be saved from the wrath to come. Sharing God’s Word is the ultimate act of love. The devil casts us haters. God calls us his ambassadors of grace.
So what about transgenderism?
Genesis 5:2 reads, “He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.” And Jesus amplifies. “ Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’” And in Genesis 1:27 “God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
Throughout God’s Word the message is clear: the divine creation involves men and women bearing the image of God and following his will in terms of gender and family and sex and procreation. There are only two genders, not 82. The family design is one man and one woman becoming one flesh in order to enjoy marital love and to have children so as to inhabit the whole earth. God does not accept anything outside his divine order. He does not endorse or bless anything outside his plan and intention.
He wants for us what is good, holy, healthy and excellent.
He also warns us about the consequences of sin in 1 Corinthians 6:
“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
And in many other passages God makes in clear his wrath is kindled when humans rebel and twist his Word, denying the truth and offending the Most High through disobedience and mockery.
And so we have a president issuing a proclamation commemorating Transgender Visibility Day on Easter Sunday, the Day we celebrate Jesus resurrecting from death, once killed by sinful man in the cruelest fashion. Resurrection Sunday is a global celebration of God’s love for us, so deep and everlasting, he sent his only Son to save us (John 3:15-16).
“He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:10-12)
Declaring his resurrection subservient to transgenderism is to crucify him all over again, an attempt to elevate the wisdom of man above God’s wisdom, an absurd exercise of the flesh.
The forces of darkness hate the light.
Global secular authority is their aim.
But the Word stands forever, and he is the One we worship on Easter Sunday, and every day.
John chapter 1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
