Next on his list of ridiculous things that will generate more votes from the far left, Joe Biden is examining banning new gas stoves from American kitchens. This move will help Biden to further endear himself to the “green energy” leftists who represent one of the most significant voting blocks in the Democratic Party. As for the rest of Americans, the President’s attitude is “screw ’em.
Biden’s U.S. Consumer Product Safety commissioner is now claiming that gas stoves are a “hidden hazard.” Hidden? Last night, I looked under my bed and in the closets, and there were no hidden hazards. I found a boogie man in the closet and Freddy Krueger under the bed (both Democrats). In the end, there was nothing to worry about because there were no hidden hazards.
CNN explains the administration’s position:
“Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned,” agency commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. [son of the late union bully] told Bloomberg. The report said the agency plans “to take action” to address the indoor pollution caused by stoves.
The CPSC has been considering action on gas stoves for months. Trumka recommended in October that the CPSC seek public comment on the hazards associated with gas stoves. The pollutants have been linked to asthma and worsening respiratory conditions.
A December 2022 study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found that indoor gas stove usage is associated with an increased risk of current asthma among children. The study found that almost 13% of current childhood asthma in the US is attributable to gas stove use.
Trumka told Bloomberg the agency plans to open public comment on gas stove hazards. Options besides a ban include “setting standards on emissions from the appliances.”
If the Biden team bans gas ovens, maybe the next step would be banning people from eating foods containing garlic, onions, beans, cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and asparagus. Just to name a few. After all, they produce natural gas (also known as butt bugles) when eaten.
This is not a new claim against gas stoves, though. The radical climate change zealots have been targeting the use of natural gas for years. It is attractive to Joe Biden, who enjoys inflation. Natural gas prices are consistently two to three times lower than electric prices.
Are ovens that are produced by electricity cleaner than gas? Well sometimes. Per the N.Y. Times, “It all depends on how your local grid generates the electricity that your new stove would use in place of natural gas.” According to a 2022 report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, 38.7% of electricity in the U.S. were produced from Nuclear Plants or Renewables. That means, per the U.S. government, 61.3% of electricity is produced by “greenhouse gas” producing products.
First Lady Jill Biden wouldn’t use a gas stove if it was that important.
In other words, changing from gas to electricity will not prevent carbon emissions into the atmosphere. It will only increase prices for the average consumer and help Joe Biden, who is losing support in his own party, to raise support for his re-election campaign.
