A Denver city councilwoman who is currently embroiled in a runoff election set for June said white business owners should pay a special tax because they are all racists who stole native lands.
Council woman Candi CdeBaca was speaking at a business forum when she suggested that the city should levy a race-based tax only on white people as “reparations” to minorities.
“Capitalism was built on stolen land, stolen labor, and stolen resources,” this ignoramus said. “You could be collecting those extra taxes from white-led businesses all over the city and redistributing them to black and brown-owned businesses.”

CdeBaca went on to say that since taxes are “voluntary,” her idea would not be racist and illegal.
But Denver’s Department of Finance told 9 News that CdeBaca was not correct about the “voluntary” nature of business taxes and levies.
“Non-residentially assessed property owners within the BID are required to pay the additional taxes/fees,” said spokesperson Courtney Meihls. “It’s not voluntary.”
CdeBaca lied again when she said her racist taxation plan was inspired by the San Francisco Legacy Business Program which redistributes money to under served businesses. But she is a liar because the program is not funded by taxes.
