At the same time that voters were calling for ‘proof of life’ for Senator McConnell, they could hardly have expected to wake up to the news on Sunday that Lindsey Graham was the one whose life had run its course.
His office gave us a straightforward formal announcement:

While it was not yet announced as the final cause of death (some reports are still pending), the initial conclusion as to his cause of death involves a catastrophic artery tear, pending the results of those other reports.

[We’ll return to that ‘swirling questions’ mentioned in the headline after we pause to recognize some of his better moments in the Senate.]
When the Sunday Shows tried to turn the President’s appearances by phone into their usual circus, Trump made a point of reminding them the topic he agreed to discuss, and the only one he wanted to discuss that morning, was the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. Whether it’s Ruth Bader Ginsberg or Lindsey Graham — with the exception of examples where there was some kind of a longstanding personal beef between him and the deceased — the President is generally surprisingly gracious when people come face-to-face with their mortality. Flags are being flown at half-staff in his memory.
While the late senator was politically a mixed bag (especially in questions of foreign policy), and some of the usual faces on the left have made a point of being every bit as nasty with respect to Lindsey’s death as they (rightly) denounced Trump for being with Rob Reiner, here are a few of his finer moments in office.
First off, we respect the fact that he’s one of those rare people who has served as a Senator forever without finding creative ways to pad his bank account.

Second, we love the fact that he played a significant role in blowing the lid off of Comey’s malfeasance in the Russiagate/Crossfire Hurricane debacle.

His best moment, hands down is the one that briefly earned him the nickname ‘Graham-bo” when he was breathing fire at the Kavanaugh hearing.

And then we get to the swirling questions.
Heart attack. Not that surprising for a guy in his seventies. Open and shut case right?
Not quite. We haven’t yet closed all the loops, and that’s what’s making people skeptical. Even of basic claims like this one. Some people have had their trust burned far too badly even to take basic claims at face value.
But there’s a little more to it than just clenching the teeth, crossing the arms and saying “I don’t buy it'”
For one thing, if the reports can be believed, we’ve got the FBI showing up at his home.

The guy on the left is wearing a jacket. First two words are ‘violent crimes’. Next two look like they might be ‘task force’ or something similar.
Maybe it’s nothing. It probably IS nothing.
Likely it’s that infamous ‘abundance of caution’.
But some are putting weight on the Director’s statement, especially the parts about ‘assisting local authorities’ and ‘necessary resource’.

Is there something we’re not being told? Is foul play suspected? Recall, the toxicology report is not yet been provided.
There’s another detail that thickens the plot… so to speak.
His unexpected death came the same week he returned from his last trip to Ukraine, where he was very pleased to say he believes we’ve happened upon a formula to bring an end to the war between Ukraine and Russia — a plan that involves further arming Kiev so that Russia start’s paying a steeper and steeper price for dragging the war on further. (Oil refineries, for example have been hit. And drones have made it all the way to Moscow.)
Here’s the statement, one day before his death, that has people wondering if there is a Paul Harvey ‘Rest of the Story’ waiting to be told…

It does’t help that we’ve seen the Kremlin get creative in their killing in the past, besides some other actively looking to kill key Americans.
It’s probably nothing…
But strictly speaking, that’s still in the realm of speculation.
Far better to KNOW it’s nothing, that to assert it and hope you’re right.
